THE APOSTLS CREED *I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth, I  believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was  buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  He will come again to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the  Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the  communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

PLEDGE TO THE CHRISTIAN FLAG: I pledge allegiance to the Christian Flag and to the Savior for whose Kingdom it stands. One Savior, crucified, risen, and coming again with life and liberty to all who believe.

 ‍Opening Hymn: "The Battle Hymn of the Republic “

‍ ‍Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored
He hath loosed the fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on

I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps
I have read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
His truth is marching on

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat
Oh, be swift, my soul to answer Him, be jubilant, my feet
Our God is marching on

Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
Glory, glory, hallelujah
His truth is marching on
His truth is marching on

‍ Romans 8:5-14

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. 9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life, because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

 ‍Psalm 63:1-8  (Read Responsively)

A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

Psalm 63:1-8

1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you;

*I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you,

 in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

 *2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.

*4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

*6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.

*8 I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.

Our responsive chorus is “Thy Loving Kindness”

Thy lovingkindness is better than life
Thy lovingkindness is better than life
My lips shall praise thee, thus still I bless thee
I will lift up my hands unto thy name

I lift my hands up unto thy name
I lift my hands up unto thy name
My lips shall praise thee, thus still I bless thee
I will lift up my hands unto thy name

 ‍‍Congregational Prayer of the Day:  Heavenly Father, thank You for the precious gift of freedom, the freedom to worship and to speak.  On this Memorial Day, we remember with deep gratitude the brave men and women who gave their lives so that we might enjoy these liberties. Their sacrifice reflects the love of Christ, who laid down His life so that we might be eternally free. Help us use our freedom wisely, to serve others, seek justice, and reflect Your light in a world longing for peace. Comfort the families who have lost loved ones in service. Those who laid down their lives that we might be free.  May we live each day with thankfulness and courage, honoring not only their memory but Your grace and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

‍ ‍Reading of God’s Word from 2 Timothy 2:8-10  (New Century Version) 8 Remember Jesus Christ, who was raised from the dead, who is from the family of David. This is the Good News I preach, 9 and I am suffering because of it to the point of being bound with chains like a criminal. But God’s teaching is not in chains. 10 So I patiently accept all these troubles so that those whom God has chosen can have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus. With that salvation comes glory that never ends.

‍ Communion

The Apostles Creed

Communion Scripture (Colossians 1:15-20 and John 3:16) (*read responsively)

The Son is the image of the invisible God, *For in Him all things were created: things visible and things invisible. Whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities *all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things; *and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. *He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything He might have the supremacy. *For God was pleased to have His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven. By making peace through His Blood, shed on the cross. If we confess our sins, *God who is faithful and just, will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness for all have sinned *and fall short of the glory of God. For God so loved the world, *that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, *but that through Him the world might be saved. A time of Silent Reflection. Let us pray together

Heavenly Father,

I confess to you that many times, I live my life and become so busy, that I don’t remember You. I don’t ask for Guidance and Direction before making a decision. Forgive me.  I have withheld kindness and grace from others. Forgive me.  Forgive me for those things I have done knowing they were not your will and forgive me for those things I have left undone that you have impressed upon me to do. Breathe Your Holy Spirit into my heart and mind, giving me the power I need to be more like Jesus. Help me everyday, that I may believe without seeing, and love as you love. Without measure. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN

Prayers of Intercession

‍ ‍Closing Hymn ~ “God of Our Fathers”

  1. God of our fathers, whose almighty hand
    Leads forth in beauty all the starry band
    Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies,
    Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise.

  2. Thy love divine hath led us in the past,
    In this free land by Thee our lot is cast;
    Be Thou our ruler, guardian, guide and stay,
    Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way.

  3. From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence,
    Be Thy strong arm our ever-sure defense;
    Thy true religion in our hearts increase,
    Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace.

  4. Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way,
    Lead us from night to never-ending day;
    Fill all our lives with love and grace divine,
    And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.
